New Year and new offers @ Scotty`s!

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

Yes, a late hello from all the crew at Scottys! Despite serious flooding to our South at Ingham, which cut the Bruce Highway for 13 days! in February, and  the media hype over the non-events that were Cyclones Elli and Hamish, the sun still shines, the Coral Sea is blue  and the verdant rainforest is green.   Typical, really!!

As this is our 21st birthday year (yes, 21 years of continuous fun and counting!!!) we are rewarding our wonderful guests with great “free stuff”!!! Any guest booking direct with us for 3 nights or more receives a free Scotty`s t-shirt ( priceless …) and can also jump on one of our free local  waterhole or wildlife tours!!

With such a wealth of experience from continuous ownership, we proudly claim an unrivalled level of experience in all things “youth adventure”. There are also rewards when you book tours at our reception: aside from the obvious one of getting the honest low-down on all the best experiences Australia has to offer, there are t-shirts, drink coolers (stubby holders in Australian..), bed nights and internet time on offer. Call to hear all the possibilities available: don`t miss out on these deals by booking elswhere!

And why are you coming to visit Scotty`s, and Mission Beach? Apart from the free rainforest walks, fishing,  14 kilometers of REAL beach and our amazing pool and gardens, it`s for the excellent tours, isn`t it?

The wet season has only weeks left to run, which means Tully rafting is still at it`s best with the river really pumping. Meanwhile, the trade winds haven`t arrived yet and the seas are frequently like glass. With quality reef trips available with Calypso dive company (including wreck dives!) and full and half day sea kayaking tours available with Coral Sea kayaking, it`s a great time to enjoy the wonders of the local coral cays and islands.

For those looking for a simpler option, the water taxi to Dunk Island is a popular option, with free stinger suit and snorkelling gear provided by them for our guests. Dunk is a lovely, lush tropical island with a tranquil atmosphere, snorkelling options and provides some spectacular views of the Family Group of islands and the Cassowary Coast from it`s mountain peak: well worth the 2km walk.

Tandem skydiving onto the beach over the road is also at it`s best when calm conditions prevail. With two companies to choose from, it`s a sure bet that those seeking the ultimate thrill can jump within minutes of arriving on our courtesy coach, stepping up to reception  and booking it!

Yes, come on up to our version of Utopia and see why we`re still crazy about backpackers after all these years!! (My 42nd birthday is in July…..) Cheers,
